I would tell you that I have been floating out to sea
for what seems like years.
I would tell you to stop telling me to swim to shore;
this riptide is far too strong.
So in the face of opposition
I am working on practicing self-love
in the form of seeking out those who love me for me
and care about me holistically.
Lest I be led astray trying to swim back to shore.
Surely I will drown in that endeavour.
