Love Letters To Kenya

I write love letters to Kenya
my home / not all mine
but I'm not all / hers

and I wonder if she cries
waking to my empty bed
after dreaming my dreams
intimate
and I did not mean for this
she has to know that

my heart wants to be only / hers
my tongue wants to be only / hers
my body body only found / with her

I will return
the weight of love is too heavy a calling
and I cannot refuse this knowing

I will return
maybe not all hers / still all me.

Kenya, I miss you.
But missing you is like missing me and this longing wears me thin.
So I will write you love letters while I wait out the distance
and love myself during the interim
over the ocean
and until we embrace again.
